In the ever-changing, fast-paced world of technology it is even more essential that people today be prepared to meet the challenges of a computer-saturated world.
Twenty years ago, it was safe to say that most everyone had a television in their home, now one can say that most everyone has a computer in their home. Why wouldn't they? It's almost impossible to be a student today without the convenience of a computer at your fingertips.
Unfortunately, not everyone has a computer to go home to and even more alarming, is that some people don't have a home to go to at the end of the day. What can be done to help these less fortunate people?
Walk-in-Power-Technology, a division of Walk-in-Power Ministries, has come up with one solution to meet the needs of this homeless population.
Walk-in-Power-Ministries of Atlanta, Ga., operates a shelter to help combat the ever-growing problem of homelessness. People residing at the shelter attend training, in computer skills through Walk-in-Power-Technology.
Walk-in-Power-Technology's goal is to provide the homeless with instruction and enrichment in computer technology and other skills that will help them stay on par or assimilate with society.
Participants will receive 40 hours of basic computer training.
Training will include writing: Internet usage Computer database research Online information transmission Microsoft PowerPoint* presentation development. Advanced computer training classes geared toward participants with an aptitude for computers and includes courses in: Advanced Microsoft Word*, Microsoft Excel*, Microsoft Outlook* and PowerPoint* presentation.
